They were all strong women in their own rights with their own uniqueness and beauty. But they were even stronger in numbers because they had a dual purpose to their existence. They were there to serve Bajirao and for him, not just that they served him wonderfully but most importantly they also served his son, Mastani whom he considered as his son though he wasn't a blood-relation but a great fan of the great Maratha warrior-general. The battle scenes were exciting and well choreographed just as it should be. Sanjay Leela Bhansali put his best foot forward in this department. He is constantly improving his craft, not that he ever had a bad outing but he is constantly reinventing himself. He doesn't have to worry about directing anymore because he has more than delivered on that aspect. Bajirao's family and friends were all about loyalty and devotion. His best friend was Chimaji Appa, his trusted advisor executed the battle strategies so beautifully that his enemies never knew what hit them. The costumes were quite detailed and rich as you would expect from such a movie.
